Archives
We intend to keep an online archive of posters, magazine issues and anything else we think is important at the time. At the moment we are collecting stuff for the archives and I will update as I receive stuff. If you have any electronic versions of old posters or don't mind scanning some old posters get in touch and we'll work on improving this archive.
We are hoping to keep a fairly good record of what happens in FUCS now as we have little records of what happenned in the past.
You may also be interested to find out about previous committee members and past concert repertoire.

A Brief History of the Flinders University Choral Society
The Society actually first existed as the Flinders University of South Australia Music Society founded by Dr Robert Illing on the 9th of March, 1966. The Musical Society was quite different in its aims to the current Choral Society. The Musical Society was created to develop study in a wide variety of musical fields. A committee was formed with certain positions to be held by graduates and students.
The choir, known as the Flinders University Choral Society, officially broke away from FUSAMS in 1968. A group of Flinders University students, who had been singing with the Adelaide University Choral Society, decided to develop the choir and establish a university choir identity of their own. Hence later, in 1977, another committee was formed and the Society as we know it today began with the specific focus of choral music.
The Society will soon be approaching its fortieth anniversary year, under the musical direction of Karl Billeter. FUCS has been conducted by Elizabeth Silsbury, Michael Goodwin, Johannes Roose, Carl Crossin (Adelaide Chamber Singers and the Elder Conservatorium), Kenneth Lay, Deborah Hepworth, Judith Both, Peter Gubbins, Russell Larkin, Kynan Johns, Peter Deane, Timothy Marks (Graduate Singers and the Australian Youth Choir), Peter Hopkins, David Keen, Michael Flaherty, Joshua Cross and Tom Farnam (Flight of Ideas).
FUCS covers a vast range of musical styles, the repertoire includes works of a mainly classical base but extends to envelop jazz, rock and spiritual music. FUCS has combined with the Hills Choral Society to perform the Fauré Requiem with Tom Farnan and the Vivaldi Gloria with Christie Anderson. In 2001 FUCS did a concert called "Jazz Pizzazz" with Josh Cross, and in 2000 Michael Flaherty directed the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" with FUCS.
FUCS is a member of AICSA (Australian Intervarsity Choral Societies Association), the peak organisation representing university choral societies all over Australia, and ANCA, the Australian National Choral Association Inc. These organisations help us with things like sourcing music scores for our concerts, as well as important stuff like insurance.
We're also grateful to Flinders University, and Flinders Uni Clubs and Societies for help in ways too numerous to mention.
We are sponsored by NAB and Flinders Optometry. You may also be interested to find out about previous committee members.

Chorus Interruptus
Chorus Interruptus is our magazine. Full of useful bits and, er, not so useful bits. Just have a read.

Concert Posters
Apologies for the wide variety of poster format. Maybe one day a new webmaster will come along and jpeg them all. Maybe.
