Mailing Lists

There are numerous ways to keep in touch with fellow choristers. The electronic ways are detailed below.

The FUCS-All Mailing List

Anyone may write to the FUCS list, but it is moderated to ensure only relevant info gets to the choir.

You may join the FUCS list by visiting this page or to simply email the webmaster webmaster@fucs.org.au

The FAUCS Mailing List

FUCS shares a mailing list with our sister choir AUCS (Adelaide University Choral Society), the combination of which we know as FAUCS.

Anyone may write to the FAUCS list, but it isn't currently a conversational list. It's more informative. So, if you want to invite all the choristers to a party you're having.. that's a good way to start.

You may join the FAUCS list by visiting this page or to simply post to the list write to faucs@dons.net.au

The AICSA Lists

FUCS is also part of a much bigger organisation, AICSA (Australian Intervarsity Choral Societies Association). Please do visit the AICSA site as you can find out about the National events like Intervarsity Choral Festivals (IVCF's or IV), where all the university choirs get together for a few weeks in one state.

To complement these festivals are a few mailing lists.

Two are official, AICSA - sanctioned informative lists. choral-announce and choral-net. These are both very low traffic and highly reccommended lists to be on.

The other is non-official (but highly entertaining), very high volume and flame worthy. only reccommended if you check your email every 10 minutes or more. This is choral-chat.

Choral-chat turned 10 years old in February 2002! Woohoo!

To subscribe to any of these lists write to majordomo@lists.fulcrum.com.au

in the body of the mail type

subscribe choral-announce
subscribe choral-net
subscribe choral-chat

...or whatever combination of lists you wish to subscribe to. Put the entries on separate lines and send it off.

Malcolm will shortly allow your subscription and you will be on.

To mail these lists write to:

choral-announce@aicsa.org.au
choral-net@aicsa.org.au
choral-chat@info.fulcrum.com.au

#choral-chat

We recently got approval for #choral-chat on oz.org.

If you don't know much about IRC (Inter Relay Chat) take a look at this. You can download a client for windows from the Mirc website. Learn more about Oz.Org or just get a handy list of Oz.Org servers.

You'll also have to choose a nick before you start.

When you get onto a server type:

/join #choral-chat

Then chat away :)

FUCS Aliases

This is the easiest way to keep in touch with fellow choristers. I have collected the email addresses of choristers and created aliases for them.

If you want to write to any person in FUCS write to:

theirname@fucs.org.au

This also works for committeeposition@fucs.org.au. I have taken some effort to also alias any nicknames and incorrect spellings so that mail will always go through.

If you are a member or an ex-member and haven't got an alias and you'd like one mail me and I will soon arrange one for you.

Just in case you're still not sure about this alias thing, I shall explain a little further. This is not a new email account.
This is an easy-to-remember address that people write to that gets redirected to your real account.
So if your email address changes for any reason It'd be a good idea to mail me so I can send all your mail to the right place.

The most excellent thing about these aliases is that if you want to tell the whole choir something you can mail:

all@fucs.org.au
