Rehearsal Information

FUCS rehearses once a week from 6:45pm till 9:00pm on Mondays in the Noel Stockdale room of the Library in the union building of Flinders University. From 6:45 to 7:00 we warm up. Extra rehearsals tend to be organised and announced leading up to a concert, and on some occasions the rehearsal will go a little past 9:00. There is also a rehearsal camp for each concert where much intensive work is done on the program and lots of fun is had.

Our membership fee is $20 for students and $50 for non students. This will last until January/February of the next year (ie. until we start rehearsing again).

Camps are held about twice a year and may cost about $40 each to attend. This covers a supper on Friday, all your meals Saturday, breakfast Sunday and all sleeping costs. Camps are not compulsory, but do involve 4 rehearsals. It is therefore difficult to miss all of camp and still be able to sing in the concert. It is advised that you try to make it to as many rehearsals at camp as you can even if you can't afford the time or money to stay. Besides which, they're fun and you'll miss out on getting to know everyone if you don't turn up. Sometimes a camp may be replaced by two whole-day Saturday rehearsals.

FUCS has a rehearsal policy which states that to be eligible to perform in a concert, you may miss only three rehearsals. If you miss more than three your eligibility to perform in the concert is at the discretion of the conductor and the committee. This maintains the quality of the performance and enables us to use rehearsals effectively. Talk to us if you have a problem with this.
